Abstract
cognitive distortions are systematic deviations in cognitive processes that influence an individual's decision-making and behavioral patterns. These biases can manifest themselves in various forms among students, affecting different aspects of their academic activities and personal lives. This, in turn, can have a significant impact on academic performance, interpersonal relationships, and the formation of personal qualities. Understanding the nature of cognitive distortions and their impact on students' decision-making is extremely important for both students and faculty, as this knowledge can be used to develop more effective educational strategies and methods of student support. We have identified a link between inflated self-esteem and the cognitive distortions of “maximalism,” “categoricality,” and “self-confidence,” as well as between high levels of anxiety and the cognitive distortions of “catastrophizing,” “trusting critics,” and “personalization”.
