Studying coping behavior in neurological patients with different levels of self-esteem

the article analyzes the results of a study of coping strategies in neurological patients with different levels of self-perception. Neurological patients often experience serious changes in their physical condition and functional capabilities as a result of diseases such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and others. Destructive changes are observed in the cognitive sphere (memory, thinking, attention, speech), disrupt the psychoemotional state of patients, causing signs of anxiety and depression. These changes can lead to a decrease in self-esteem and self-doubt, which in turn negatively affects the quality of life of patients. The paper presents a detailed comparative analysis of the results of assessing the methods of coping with stress in patients with a neurological profile with various nosologies. Most of the respondents have a high level of use of such strategies as "constructiveness", "social interaction" and "search for social support", which is a positive factor in combating stress. However, high levels of "impulsive and aggressive actions" were also revealed, as well as the choice of the "avoidance" strategy, which indicates the need to work on emotional control and the development of more adaptive strategies for coping with stress. Most patients positively assess their personality traits. However, in some areas, such as "Will" and "Creativity", there are significant groups with low and medium levels. Patients' coping strategies are interconnected with their level of self-esteem. The obtained results can be used in developing short-term and long-term methods of psychocorrectional, psychoprophylactic and psychotherapeutic work with patients of neurological profile, aimed at developing adaptive cognitive, emotional and behavioral schemes and coping mechanisms, at forming the ability to maintain self-esteem at an optimal level, maintaining a positive attitude towards treatment.
