Abstract
The issue of formation and development of sociocultural competence when studying French as a second foreign language after English is considered. The reasons for the occurrence of cultural errors in students when teaching them a second foreign language, as well as the levels of formation of cross-cultural literacy are analyzed. A comparative analysis of traditions and customs has been carried out, familiarity with which can help the student form the most comprehensive picture of a foreign cultural environment in the context of multilingualism.
