Abstract

The relevance of the study is associated with an insufficient description of the linguistic and stylisticfeatures of I. I. Dmitriev’s fairy tales. The purpose of this work is a comprehensive analysis of interrogative andexclamation sentences. The paper presents for the first time the classifications of these types of syntactic constructions, and also determines their participation in the creation of rhetorical figures and describes the functions taking intoaccount the genre originality. Seven fairy tales served as the material for analysis. Research methods: review-analytical, classification, stylistic. Interrogative and exclamation sentences are present in all texts. Structurally, sentences are represented by different types: phraseologized, simple, complicated, complex. Among the interrogative sentences, threegroups are distinguished: rhetorical questions, hypophores, and actual questions. The brevity and simple structure ofindividual questions are associated with the ease and directness of spoken speech. When characterizing exclamationconstructions, the position of the exclamation mark and its combinations with other signs were taken into account. Alarge group is formed by sentences with one final exclamation mark. The second group includes sentences with a finalexclamation mark and other signs (question mark, exclamation point, ellipsis) located inside the structure. The thirdgroup includes constructions with an exclamation mark in the middle and other signs at the end of the sentence.Combinations of punctuation marks contribute to the transmission of intonations of live colloquial speech. Separate constructions in different groups represent rhetorical exclamations. In the organization of the text, interrogative and exclamation sentences often become structural and compositional signals that mark the key points of the plot, or mark the speech of the characters.
