Semantic and functional features of stable comparatives of the English language

the article analyzes the semantic and functional features of the comparatives of the English language. Stable comparative combinations of the English language form a subsystem in the general system of phraseology. The analysis of the semantic structure of these units and the study of a certain type of semantic relations between their components made it possible to identify internal connections in their meaningful structure. This helps to uncover the mechanism of their occurrence and establish their invariant model, which reflects semantic features. The content of the invariant model of these combinations of the English language is determined in this way: the first sememe is compared with the second. This model is implemented in two forms: models of similarity and models of degree, which are characterized by their semantic and grammatical consistency. The main feature characteristic of stable comparatives is their latent emotive coloring.
