Abstract
the article is devoted to the studying of syntactic means of expressing simultaneity in English and Russian. The purpose of the study is to find similar and different features of the implementation of simultaneous actions in the compared languages. To achieve this goal, the following tasks are necessary: to study how simultaneous relations are represented in certain specific types of sentences, as well as the ways in which language conveys the simultaneity of events. The study was conducted based on examples from the British National Corpus and the National Corpus of the Russian Language. The descriptive method and the continuous sampling method were used in the work. Some types of sentences in which simultaneous actions can be implemented were described, and examples were provided.
