The article, based on sources, presents a study of the Chumakov family li­ving in the Bolshoi Shurnyak village, Yelabuga, Naberezhnye Chelny, Kazan and other cities and villages of the country. All of them are successors of the ancient Filipov family from the first servicemen newly baptized of the Zakazany’e.

Passing on to children the heritage of our people accumulated over centuries, instilling in their hearts a love for national culture is a sacred task. Our historians study dynasties and have recorded several interesting facts from the history of some families. Every person tends to stay connected to the past, because without the past there is no future. Social, economic and political changes radically change the attitude of each person to the history of the past and present. We are talking about a stable family of Chebyshevs.

The article examines those recreated in watercolors from the 1860s. K.F. Gun costume complexes of the Starokryashens (Kryashens Tatars). The author analyzes the works of a professional artist as visual and historical-ethnographic sources, touching on the general historical, artistic and ethnogra­phic contexts of the mid-19th century.

Based on the results of the work, it was revealed that the artist created images in urban and rural settlements, identified gender and age differences through the features of the costume complex: the materials used, hats and their diffe­rences from each other, decorative elements and jewelry. However, it is also necessary to point out controversial issues in the images that were found in the works of K.F. Gun – age and territorial confusion in some images.

The article, based on materials from periodicals and literature, provides information about the media of the Kryashen population in the period from 1915 to the 1930s. The themes of newspapers and magazines corresponded to the spirit of the times and reflected the public opinion of the Kryashens of that period. Media materials reflected the life activity of the Kryashen population living in Kazan and outside the TASSR. The presented periodicals are an important documentary source on the history, sociocultural and socio-political activities of the Kryashens in the first half of the twentieth century.

From 1993 to 2001, the private newspaper “Kryashen Suze” was published in the Tatar and Russian languages in Naberezhnye Chelny at various intervals. The organizers of the periodical are N.P. Antonov, N.K. Kolcherin. The editors over the years were A.N. Malov, L.D. Belousova. The newspaper sought to unite people and enligh­ten their minds, covered the life of the Kryashens of Tatarstan and Russia. She published materials about the history, customs and ethnic characteristics of the Kryashens. The newspaper introduced outstanding creative people working in the field of culture and science. However, it closes due to financial difficulties. The purpose of the article is to introduce life activities of Malov Ananiy Nesterovich (Yamash Igeney) (1938–1997), editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Kryashen Suze”.

The article is dedicated to the memory of the famous writer and public fi­gure A.N. Malov (literary pseudonym Yamash Igeney). Yamash Igeney was the editor-in-chief of the Kryashen newspaper “Kryashen Suze”. The article contains memories of contemporaries, colleagues and friends. The creativity and literary activity of Yamash Igeney is highly appreciated.

This article contains material about the Nagaybak ensemble “Sarashly”: history of creation, merits, creative path of the group. Since national folklore genres risk being forgotten without a trace, the problem of their preservation and transmission to future generations has been raised.

The article describes the historiography of the study of the ethnography of the Kryashens as an ethno-confessional community, chronologically related to the Soviet, as well as to the post-Soviet stages of national history. Particular attention is paid to the comprehension in the named historiography of the ethnocultural specifics of the Kryashens against the background of the general Tatar ethnolinguistic array. In addition, the history of studying the internal diversity of the Kryashen ethno-confessional community, the various ethnographic groups that make up the named community, is analyzed. A significant place is given to the scientific interpretation of the ethnic identity of the Kryashen population belonging to various local ethnographic groups. In addition, an attempt is made to comprehend the various theoretical approaches used by the authors-specialists in their study of the ethnography of the Kryashens.

 The article presents material about the local history program, part of which is materials on ethnogenesis, history, ethnography of the peoples who live in the Alekseevsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan, including the Kryashens. The features of the program and the importance of introducing children of different nationalities to their original culture, language, customs and traditions are described.

The article, based on materials from the newspapers “Kryashen Suze” and “Tuganaylar”, indicates the history of the emergence of Kryashen radio broadcasting in the cities and regional centers of the Republic of Tatarstan. In 1992, Kryashen activists attempted to organize their own editorial office on radio and television in Tatarstan. The materials were obtained from sources stored in scientific archival funds, and the works of scientists studying the customs and traditions of the Kryashens were used. The authors also collaborated with the Kryashens, who preserved their customs and traditions.

The Charter of the Public Organization of the Kryashens of the Republic of Tatarstan (POK RT) is the founding document on the basis of which this organization operates. It reflects the purpose and objectives of the POK RT, describes its organizational structure, principles of functioning, activities, strategy for the development of social and cultural spheres of life of the Kryashens. In the second half of the 2000s the Republican Public Organization of the Kryashens has become a leader in broadcasting the public request of the Kryashens of the republic. This organization in a short time managed to establish constructive work with state and municipal authorities, civil society institutions in the republic. The purpose of this publication is to introduce into scientific circulation a new source on the modern history of the Kryashens, their social and cultural life.
