Abstract
Aim – to consider the problem of theoretical synthesis as a method for creating a new theory.
Conclusion. Theoretical synthesis serves as a subject of philosophical analysis. The synthesis of two theories is explicated by an example of the conflict between early Darwinism and Morgan – Weisman genetics, culminating in the formation of synthetic theory of evolution. Prerequisites and conditions of synthesis of the competing theories are revealed.
