Abstract

Intracardiac thrombus of the left atrial appendage or left ventricular apex are considered to be the causes of thromboembolic complications in atrial fibrillation. However, in many cases it is difficult to reveal the source of embolism despite thorough examination of the patient. In this article, we analyze other potential sources of thromboembolic complications in atrial fibrillation. Changes in the main parameters of heart biomechanics and main arteries hemodynamics (speed, acceleration, power, work) in case of permanent atrial fibrillation are described. The most dangerous type of atrial fibrillation from the perspective of the development of thromboembolic complications was determined. The article describes the mechanisms of the development of thromboembolic complications in patients without left appendage thrombus and thrombosis of heart apex. The need to perform 24-hours ECG monitoring and sphygmography of main arteries in order to evaluate the risk of thromboembolic complications is justified in the article.
