Abstract

The article studies cardiovascular risk factors among young people. 278 students from Samara and Kemerovo (Russian Federation) universities (26.6% males, mean age 21.4 ± 2.7 years) were examined. They were offered a questionnaire which estimated age, gender, body mass index, smoking, alcohol consumption and also ischemic heart disease, stroke or diabetes mellitus. Blood pressure and pulse rate were also measured. According to our data students in Samara and Kemerovo have such cardiovascular risk factors as smoking (11.5%), overweight (12.2%), obesity (4%), alcohol consumption (35.3%), hypertension (3.6%).
