This article deals with a problem of terminological differentiation of two disciplines within the scope of comparative linguistics that studies genetically related languages in diachrony (comparative-historical linguistics) and synchrony. For the purpose of the terminological nomination of the second discipline the term “comparative-synchronic linguistics” has been proposed
