In case of probablewar automobile plants and subcontracting enterprises had military mobilization plans and could be diverted to production of tanks, production of weapons and ammunition. Despite the horrendous social costs there were a breakthrough in the automotive industry on all fronts of scientific, technical, social and cultural progress, to create the necessary defense capabilities to defend the country during the hard times of the Great Patriotic War.
