REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE FUNDAMENTAL DIRECTION IN BIOETHICS MARKING THE 20 th ANNIVERSARY OF THE INTERNATIONAL BUIETHICS COMMITTEE AT UNESCO

The article starts a series of publications marking the 2 th anniversary of the International Bioethics Committee at UNESCO and aims to throw light on the activities of IBC promoting the development of the fundamental directions in bioethics in Russia and other countries of the UNESCO Moscow Office. The article analyzes national and regional efforts and achievements made as part of the participation in the UNESCO bioethical program including the establishment of bioethical infrastructure by assisting bioethics committees, promotion of bioethics education program and integration into the global ethics observatory. It is planned to present few other publications about the regional cooperation in the process of dissemination, promotion, elaboration and application the ethical principles of the UNESCO Declarations: Universal Declaration on the Human Genome and Human Rights (1997), International Declaration on Human Genetic Data (2003), and Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights (2005).
