Abstract
Railways were the important integration factor in the system of state economy in the middle of the 19th century, they supported connection and integration of communication lines of Central Black Earth Region and the whole country as well. Railway transport was a system that has influenced on the economy, level of life, health, culture, and education. For example, for the realization of social and cultural functions railway department created the network of institutions, thus, developing social and cultural infrastructure. The process of society modernization at the expenses of creating quick and reliable transport network touched not only the centre of the country, but the provinces as well. In the second half of the 19th century the image of the provinces started to change in people’s minds. It was the railway road that brought “the new life” of market affairs to the most distant villages and towns, some of them then became the railway stations.
