The population need in prophylactic knowledge

Abstract

The article deals with the results of study of Sverdlovskaya oblast population needs in prophylactic knowledge. The questionnaire poll was organized and applied to the patients of able-bodied age who visited polyclinics and general practitioner offices with any purpose. The population need in prophylactic knowledge is considered through such particular indicators as factual and preferable sources of prophylactic knowledge; format of information related to health promotion; content of received knowledge. The data analysis revealed that the main source of information related to prophylactics is the medical personnel. The need in additional knowledge about health is expressed by 62% of respondents. The most preferable form of prophylactic information to be received is the medical personnel counseling. The respondents indicated the priority information to be applied to alter the life-style and to ameliorate health as follows: smoking giving up, stress management, rational diet and physical activity. The data on relationship between these indicators and gender, age and education are presented.
