Abstract
A series of 1-(arylthio)naphthalen-2-ols have been synthesized by condensation of naphthalen-2-ol with 1,2-diaryldisulfanes in the presence of iodine under microwave irradiation and conventional heating methods. Structures of the products were elucidated from the spectral data (IR, 1H, and 13C NMR, mass spectra) and elemental analysis. All products were tested for in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities.
