Evolution of methods of assessing the accuracy of metal-cutting machines. 2. Evolution of concepts and models used in assessing the accuracy of metal-cutting machines
Resumo
The evolution of methods used in assessing and monitoring the accuracy of metal-cutting machines is considered. Changes in terminology and in the concept of accuracy are discussed. Relations between the evolution of accuracy and the methods used for its determination are presented, in the context of the most important developments responsible for machine-tool accuracy. The development of models of machine-tool accuracy is reviewed, and the corresponding mathematical apparatus for the accuracy assessment is presented. The applicability of the various approaches is determined.

MES-based management of manufacturing processes
Resumo
In optimal management of short-run and one-off production, the goal is simultaneous maximization of the load on the machine tools and the speed of order completion. This entails optimal scheduling of the manufacturing systems.

Predicting the effective thermal conductivity of multicomponent textured tribocomposites
Resumo
On the basis of a generalized singular approximation, formulas are derived for the effective thermal conductivity of a three-component tribocomposites with reinforcing spheroidal inclusions. The dependence of the thermal conductivity on the volume fraction and aspect ratio of the ellipsoidal inclusions is investigated.

Influence of cut layer on cutting
Resumo
The contact of the chip with the tool’s front surface in cutting is analyzed by numerical modeling. The high-pressure zones and buildup at the tool’s contact surface are studied. The influence of plastic instability of the chip surface and vortex deformation modes on tool wear is considered.

Rapid assessment of wear-resistant tool coatings
Resumo
The operation of a cutting wedge is studied in order to improve coating application on tools. A method of investigating the coating characteristics in plant conditions is outlined. The mechanisms of coating failure in cutting are established. The blunting of tools in the course of operation is analyzed. Coating application is optimized.

Simulation of flexible manufacturing systems at the preliminary design stage
Resumo
Approaches to more efficient design of machining equipment in flexible manufacturing systems are analyzed, with particular application to the aviation industry, the manufacture of airplane engines, and high-tech manufacturing.
974-982
Optimization of the configuration of manufacturing systems
Resumo
Software for optimizing the configuration of manufacturing systems so as to reduce expenditures in all stages of the product life cycle is considered. Mathematical expressions are given for the three crossover operators used in the genetic optimization algorithm. A computational experiment indicates the most effective crossover operator.

Superhigh-speed electric motors
Resumo
Superhigh-speed electric motors, with rotor speed up to 500000 rpm and power up to 100 W, are of interest for surface micromachining. A mathematical model of such motors is developed by means of Ansys Maxwell software. The motors are experimentally studied.

Mathematical models for base calibration in industrial robots
Resumo
Mathematical models for the control systems of industrial robots permit calibration of the base, which is a single coordinate space for the industrial robot and the components being manipulated. Calibration of the base precedes operation of the robot. Control systems for industrial robots permit the storage and use of several calibrated bases in programming robot motion.

Glass-filled polyurethane in manufacturing
Resumo
The physicomechanical and operational properties of glass-filled polyurethane obtained by long fiber injection molding (LFI) and fiber composite spraying (FCS) are investigated. It is clear that glass-filled polyurethane may be used in producing components with different surface texture (dashboard, door trim, armrests) in the auto industry.

Ease of cutting of high-chromium ferrite steels
Resumo
The ease of cutting of high-chromium ferrite steels is considered. In cutting, the productivity is found to be satisfactory, but it is difficult to obtain a machined surface of acceptable quality. Recommendations are made for improving the quality of the machined surface.

Design of grinding plates for a universal grinding machine
Resumo
New designs of cover plates and grinding plates for a universal grinding machine are developed. These designs greatly expand the functional capabilities of the machine. The plates are durable and their operating costs are low.
