Resumo
This paper is written mainly as a review of the first results of the implementation in Russia of a new electrotechnological conception of how to construct a plant for vitrifying radioactive waste (RAW) by induction melting in a cold crucible (IMCC). The study considers pilot RAW IMCCR plants and their variants in Russia and abroad with an enhanced capacity and low frequency so as to make the equipment more productive and reliable in operation. Additional steps are proposed and tested for inclusion in the conception to increase the service life of equipment and control systems.
