Conversion reflection of light in globular photonic crystals under excitation by UV LEDs

Gorelik V.S., Lepnev L.S., Loboiko A.A.

Abstract

The reflectance spectra of porous photonic crystals are studied using various radiation sources: a halogen lamp, a white diode, and ultraviolet diodes. It is found that a band corresponding to the stop band appears in the reflected radiation spectrum in the case of the halogen radiation source.

Optical properties of mesoporous one-dimensional photonic crystals

Gorelik V.S., Shchavlev V.V.

Abstract

The systematic features in the reflectance spectra of broadband optical radiation from the surface of one-dimensional photonic crystals based on mesoporous structures are presented. The dispersion dependence for electromagnetic waves in the mesoporous one-dimensional photonic crystal is established. On its basis, reflectance and transmittance spectra are calculated for particular structures, and the microscopic parameters of the samples under study are determined. The developed theory is used to explain the shape of reflectance spectra in mesoporous photonic crystals based on silicon, quartz, and aluminum oxide.

Effect of the electron energy distribution on the measurement of the atom concentration by optical actinometry

Bernatskiy A.V., Ochkin V.N., Bafoev R.N.

Abstract

The oxygen and hydrogen atom concentrations in the hollow cathode discharge with water vapor additives are determined using small argon and xenon additives as optical actinometers. The problem of the rejection of measurements of the electron plasma component parameters is discussed.

Fresnel problem and surface waves

Gusein-zade N.G., Kukushkin A.V., Rukhadze A.A.

Abstract

The similarity and difference between the Fresnel problem, i.e., the problem of electromagnetic wave reflection and refraction, including that at the Brewster angle, and the problem of surface electromagnetic wave (SEW) excitation on a plane surface of a conducting medium is studied.

Transverse mode locking of Stokes radiation in diode end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser passively Q-switched by Cr4+:YAG

Bezotosnyi V.V., Gorbunkov M.V., Dashkevich V.I., Koromyslov A.L., Orlovich V.A., Popov Y.M., Tunkin V.G., Cheshev E.A., Chulkov R.V.

Abstract

Transverse mode locking of the Stokes component generated in the mode of stimulated Raman scattering self-conversion by a pulsed diode end-pumped Nd:YVO4/Cr:YAG laser is implemented for the first time under conditions of frequency degeneracy of cavity modes.

Manifestation of spinodal singularities in the liquid–vapor phase transition during simulation of nanosecond vaporization of a liquid film

Samokhin A.A., Pivovarov P.A.

Abstract

The recent results of molecular-dynamics simulation of nanosecond vaporization of a thin liquid film are analyzed within the continual approach. The analysis shows a significant increase in the thermal conductivity at the film temperature maximum before its explosive decomposition, which indicates the closeness of the achievable limiting overheating temperature to the spinodal.
