Abstract

The advantages of using tools of polycrystalline superhard materials for drilling workpieces of fiber reinforced composites are shown. The results of a comparative quality assessment of holes produced by high-speed steel drill bits and polycrystalline diamond inserted drill bits are discussed. The polycrystalline diamond inserted drill bits have been found to provide high-quality drilling of fiber reinforced composite materials.
