Resumo

The modernization of the VVR-Ts core by installation of beryllium reflectors was analyzed. Calculations showed that the arrangement of beryllium blocks in six cavities at the core periphery makes it possible to install an additional experimental channel for producing radionuclides. In addition, the configuration of the remaining part of the core does not change and there is no substantial influence on the reactivity characteristics of the CPS rods. The neutron flux density of the standard core and a core with beryllium blocks at the periphery differs by less than 6.5%.
