Avdeyev S., Karcz W., Kirakosyan V., Rukoyatkin P., Stegaylov V., Botvina A.

Аннотация

The kinetic energy spectra of intermediate mass fragments (IMF) has been studied for 4.4 GeV d + Au collisions at the Dubna Nuclotron with the 4π detector array FASA. Experimental kinetic energy spectra were compared to that obtained by the multi-body Coulomb trajectory calculations with the initial break-up conditions given by the combined model INC + SMM. It was found good agreement of measured and calculated kinetic energy spectra including a radial flow.

Sobolev Y., Penionzhkevich Y., Maslov V., Naumenko M., Samarin V., Siváček I., Stukalov S.

Аннотация

The total cross sections for the 6, 8He + 28Si and 9Li + 28Si reactions are measured in the beam energy range of 12–39 A MeV via transmission method with registration of prompt neutron and gamma radiation by a spectrometer with six scintillation detectors. The technique taking into account the experimental values of the efficiency of registering gamma radiation with different multiplicities and the number of triggered spectrometer detectors is used to analyze the experimental data. The experimental data are compared to data obtained earlier in other studies. The values of the total cross section for 8He + 28Si reaction at energy around 20 A MeV are close to those of the total cross section for the 6He + 28Si reaction. The total cross section for the 8He + 28Si reaction is appreciably higher than the total cross section for the 6He + 28Si reaction in the range of 12–16 A MeV.

Studying the Ground States of 6, 7, 9, 11Li Nuclei by Feynman Continual Integrals Method

Samarin V., Naumenko M.

Аннотация

The energy and the square of the wave function modulus for the ground state of 6, 7, 11Li nuclei are calculated using Feynman continual integrals in the model of the interaction between a nuclear core and external nucleons. The obtained energy values are in good agreement with the experimental data. The appearance of deuteron and triton clusters was demonstrated in the structure of 6Li and 7Li nuclei, respectively. Calculations in the shell model of a deformed nucleus are also performed for 7, 9, 11Li nuclei. Both models help explain the strong deformation of the 7Li nucleus.

Determination of the Scattering Amplitude in a Limited Area of Calculation

Krassovitskiy P., Pen’kov F.

Аннотация

An algorithm based on direct discretization of a two-dimensional equation is proposed for numerically solving the problem of two-dimensional scattering. The asymptotic distance is reduced by presenting the solution as the sum of free waves. The usefulness of the developed algorithm is demonstrated by solving the problem of scattering on a nonspherical core.

Role of the Mechanism of Heavy Cluster Stripping in a 27Al(р, α)24Mg Reaction

Galanina L., Zelenskaya N., Ognev V.

Аннотация

The contribution from the mechanism of heavy 23Na cluster stripping from a 27Al(5/2+) initial nucleus to a cross section of the 27Al(р, α)24Mg(0+, 2+) reaction is calculated at Ep = 7.4 MeV and angles of α‑particle emission of 25°–160° (laboratory). Calculations are made with the FRESCO code using the contribution from the 3/2+ ground state of 23Na. Spectroscopic amplitudes at decay vertices of 27Al(5/2+) → 23Na(3/2+) + α and 24Mg(0+, 2+) → 23Na(3/2+) + р reactions are determined from wave functions in the context of the Nilsson model, depending on their deformation. Cross sections calculated for the 0+ and 2+ levels of the 24Mg nucleus are two orders of magnitude lower than those found experimentally. The cross section for the 0+ level grows at θα ∼ 180° in the back semi-sphere, while the one for the 2+ level exhibits a maximum at θα > 140°. The slight contribution from the mechanism of heavy cluster stripping is due to the spectroscopic amplitudes at the decay vertices of the initial and final nuclei owing to a weak overlap of wave functions of 27Al, 23Na, and 24Mg(0+, 2+) nuclei in the Nilsson model.

Kinematic Modeling of the Quasi-Free Scattering of Deuterons and α-Particles on the Clusters of Light Nuclei

Kasparov A., Afonin A., Konobeevski E., Mitcuk V., Zuyev S.

Аннотация

A way of determining the cluster structure of light nuclei is considered, using the example of 7Li. To obtain new data on the cluster structure of light nuclei, it is proposed that reactions of the quasi-free scattering (QFS) of particles on the clusters of the above nucleus be studied. Protons, deuterons, and α-particles can be used as projectiles to induce such QFS reactions. The approach is tested by modeling QFS reactions on the clusters of the 7Li nucleus, induced by deuterons and α-particles with energies of 15 and 30 MeV, respectively. The results from modeling indicate that using different projectiles in the reaction of quasi-free scattering allows better determination of the cluster structure of light nuclei.

Probing the Cluster Structure of a Light Nucleus with d 9Be Scattering

Afonin A., Zuyev S., Kasparov A., Mitcuk V., Mordovskoy M., Lebedev V., Spassky A., Konobeevski E.

Аннотация

It is proposed that deuteron quasi-free scattering on separate clusters of the 9Be nucleus be used to estimate the contributions from different cluster configurations (8Be + n, α + α + n, α + 5He) to the structure of 9Be. These scattering processes are modeled kinematically. It is shown there are isolated regions in the angular and energy distributions of secondary particles that correspond to certain configurations of the clusters in 9Be are identified. The modeling results show the obtained data on the energies and angles of emission of two secondary particles (d + n and d + α) allow us to identify the contributions from different reaction channels and draw conclusions regarding the cluster structure of the 9Be nucleus. The results from this analysis are employed in the inclusive exclusive experimental investigations of the 9Be cluster structure using the deuteron beam at Moscow State University’s Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics.

Determining the Energy Spectrum of Fast Neutrons in the n + 1H → n + p Reaction on the W–Be Source at the Institute for Nuclear Research, Russian Academy of Sciences

Mordovskoy M., Zuyev S., Konobeevski E., Mitcuk V., Ponomarev V., Solodukhov G., Surkova I.

Аннотация

The neutron spectrum produced in the γ +9Be → 8Be + n reaction at different boundary energies of the photon spectrum is modeled in order to examine the possibility of measuring nuclear cross sections with fast quasi-monoenergetic neutron beams of the W–Be photoneutron source at the Institute for Nuclear Research. The obtained spectra are used to model the response of a hydrogen-containing detector to neutrons in the n + 1H → n + p reaction. An experimental setup for determining the energy spectrum of neutrons of the W–Be source is constructed. The spectra of secondary neutrons detected in an active hydrogen-containing target irradiated with neutrons are measured and compared to the ones modeled.

Studying the Thermal Neutron Spectrum of the W–Be Photoneutron Source at the Institute for Nuclear Research, Russian Academy of Sciences

Afonin A., Zuyev S., Konobeevski E.

Аннотация

The possibility is considered of reconstructing the thermal neutron flux density of a W–Be photoneutron source via neutron activation analysis of Ag, Mg, Fe, Mn, and Ti samples. The use of a simple function in the form AEB describing the thermal region of the spectrum is discussed as an example of reconstruction. The dependence of the reaction rates’ deviation from the ones calculated on the parameters of the approximating function is investigated. The convergence of the reconstruction results as the number of experimental data grows is obtained. This means of recovery can be used for operational measurements of the thermal neutron flux density of the photoneutron source and to optimize the parameters of the source.

Studying the Possibility of Using Different Aerosol Filters for Neutron-Activation Analysis

Zuyev S., Afonin A., Burmistrov Y., Kapustin I., Konobeevski E., Mordovskoy M., Pletnikov E., Ponomarev V., Solodukhov G.

Аннотация

Samples of different fibrous filtering materials are considered in selecting analytical filter materials suitable for sampling atmospheric aerosols and precipitates for neutron-activation analysis: quartz fiber filters, bleached gauze, LFS-2 analytical filtering material, Petryanov filters of two kinds, and an industrial nonwoven stitched filter. The filter samples are irradiated with neutrons from an IN-LUE photoneutron source based on the linear electron accelerator at the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute for Nuclear Research. The γ-activity of the samples is measured using a low-background gamma-spectrometer. Analysis of the activation gamma spectra corresponding to the samples of different filtering materials reveals the systematic presence of Mn, Na, and Cl (in different combinations) as their main impurities. A quartz fiber filter is the most suitable material for the neutron activation analysis. Estimates are made of the content of trace impurities in the investigated materials.

Аннотация

Independent estimates are presented for two important characteristics of the photonuclear 13C(γ, p)12B activation detection of hidden carbon concentrations: the numbers of 12B isotope nuclei that are produced and the fluxes of secondary γ quanta upon the decay of 12B nuclei. The findings are compared to known experimental data and the results from earlier model calculations.

New Data on the Photodisintegration of 140, 142Ce and 153Eu Nuclei

Varlamov V., Kaidarova V., Barbaryan V.

Аннотация

Experimental data for 140, 142Се and 153Eu nuclei are analyzed jointly using the cross sections for total and partial photoneutron reactions obtained with quasimonoenergy photon beams formed during the annihilation of relativistic positrons. The results from an experiment performed on a bremsstrahlung beam are also used for such an analysis for the 153Eu nucleus. Well-known systemic discrepancies between the results of different experiments are analyzed using the objective physical criteria of data reliability, and ways of allowing for them are considered. New data on the cross sections of (γ, 1n) and (γ, 2n) reactions for 140, 142Се nuclei, on the cross section of (γ, 3n) reaction for 153Eu nucleus, and on the cross section of total photoneutron reaction for all three nuclei were obtained additionally the cross sections of partial reactions that satisfy the established criteria of reliability. It was shown that substantial deviations of the experimental reaction cross sections from those evaluated are due to an unreliable sorting of neutrons between the channels with a multiplicity of 1, 2 due to the abovementioned systematic uncertainties.

Time Operation Mode of Scintillation Detectors for Measuring the Induced Activity of 12B and 12N at Pulsed Electron Accelerators

Dzhilavyan L., Lapik A., Rusakov A.

Аннотация

The possibilities are considered of measuring the induced activity of short-lived radioisotopes 12N (T1/2 ≅ 11.0 ms) and 12B (T1/2 ≅ 20.2 ms) produced in objects of study when they are irradiated with brief beam pulses of an electron accelerator in time intervals between such pulses. To solve the problem, the switching method is applied before and after each beam pulse for power supplies of photoelectron multiplier dividers on the scintillation detectors used to detect particles emitting from these objects at the decay of produced 12N and 12B.

8He Spectroscopy with Stopped-Pion Absorption by 12C and 14C

Gurov Y., Lapushkin S., Leonova T., Sandukovsky V., Chernyshev B.

Аннотация

The structure of the levels of heavy helium isotope 8He is investigated using the reactions of stopped-pion absorption by carbon isotopes 12С(π, p3He)X, 14С(π, d4He)X, and 14С(π, t3He)X. Measurements are made with the two-arm multilayer semiconductor spectrometer at the LANL accelerator. Excited states of the 8He nucleus with energies of excitation of up to ~ 20 MeV are sought using the measured missing-mass spectra for these reactions. An excited state with Ex ≈ 6.4 MeV and Г ≤ 1 MeV is observed for the first time. Its structure is probably due to two valence nucleons on the (1p1/2)2 shell.

Cross Section of Solar Neutrino Capture by 76Ge Nuclei

Vyborov A., Inzhechik L., Koroteev G., Lutostansky Y., Tikhonov V., Fazliakhmetov A.

Аннотация

The results are presented from calculating capture cross section σ(Eν) of solar neutrinos by 76Ge nuclei. Experimental data on strength function S(E), obtained in the charge-exchange 76Ge(3He, t)76As reaction, are used in these calculations. The effect the resonance structure of strength function S(E) has on cross section σ(Eν) is examined. It is shown that the giant Gamow–Teller resonance alone makes a contribution of ~20%, and the contribution of lower-lying excitations in the continuous spectrum part is even larger. These contributions must be considered in calculations for background events in experiments on double beta decay of the GERDA (LEGEND) type.

Cross Sections of Solar Neutrino Capture by Nuclei and Charge-Exchange Resonances

Lutostansky Y., Osipenko A., Tikhonov V.

Аннотация

The resonance structure of charge-exchange strength function S(E) and its effect on the cross sections of neutrino capture by 71Ga, 98Mo, and 127I were examined using the self-consistent theory of finite Fermi systems. Gamow–Teller, analog, and lower-lying pygmy resonances are considered in calculating strength function S(E). Cross sections σ(E) of solar neutrino capture are calculated for the above three isotopes with the resonance structure of strength function S(E) factored in, and the influence of each resonance on energy dependence σ(E) is analyzed. It is found that all charge-exchange resonances in strength function S(E) must be considered in calculating cross section σ(E). Even if just the high-lying resonances are neglected, cross section σ(E) can be underestimated, and this could affect the interpretation of experimental data.

On the Double Spin Asymmetries in the Elastic Scattering of Electrons off Protons

Safin M.

Аннотация

Based on the obtained differential cross sections for the scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons, taking into account the polarization of the proton target or the longitudinal polarization of the recoil protons, the next single spin asymmetries are studied: breaking T-parity asymmetry in the spin of the target proton \({{A}^{{( \bot )}}}\), and the degree of longitudinal polarization of recoil protons \({{P}_{p}}\). Double spin asymmetries are also obtained and analyzed: asymmetry \({{A}_{{ep}}}\) with respect to the correlation of the incident electron helicity and the spin of the target proton, and right-left asymmetry \({{D}_{p}}\) of the degree of longitudinal polarization of the recoil proton. It is shown that these asymmetries make it possible to measure the ratios of the proton form factors \({{{{G}_{{Ep}}}} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{{{G}_{{Ep}}}} {{{G}_{{Mp}}}}}} \right. \kern-0em} {{{G}_{{Mp}}}}}\) and \({{{{G}_{{Mp}}}} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{{{G}_{{Mp}}}} {{{G}_{{1p}}}}}} \right. \kern-0em} {{{G}_{{1p}}}}}\).

Lepton Charges in Current Descriptions of Weak Processes

Romanov Y.

Аннотация

A family of leptons based on charged \({{l}_{{{\text{ch}}}}}\) and neutral (neutrino) \({{l}_{\nu }}\) quantum numbers is described while retaining their sum \({{L}_{{{\text{ch}}}}}\) and total aroma \({{L}_{\nu }}.\) Representations of a four-component neutrino theory are expanded by including a tauon family and a new (fourth) lepton family. (Non)diagonal lepton processes are studied with respect to the interaction between neutral (NC) and charged (CC) weak currents. It is shown that information on current constants can be obtained by measuring the recoil electron spectra and total cross sections of elastic \(\nu e\) and \(\tilde {\nu }e\) types of scattering.
