Abstract
Experimental data and analytical relationships for assessing the wear resistance of gearing materials are considered. The role of hardness and of plasticity reserve in determining the wear resistance level for steel is described. A method for choosing the material and for predicting the toothing resource is proposed taking into account the deformation characteristics in the area of contact interaction.
