NEMATOCEROUS DIPTERANS OF THE FAMILY PLECIDAE (DIPTERA, NEMATOCERA) OF RUSSIA: SPECIES LIST AND ECOLOGY OF PREIMAGINAL STAGES

Abstract

The composition of the family Plecidae, which includes two genera: Penthetria Meigen, 1803 and Plecia Wiedemann, 1828, both represented in the Russian fauna, is reviewed. New species, Plecia subnigra sp. n. and P. ovalis sp. n., are described. Plecia adiastola is recorded for Russia for the first time. The development of preimaginal stages of Plecia adiastola, P. subnigra, and Penthetria motschulskii in decaying deciduous wood affected by dark and light rots is discovered.
