Resumo

Constructive criticism of the provisions articulated in the article by A.G. Khanzhin and A.A. Kozhokaru’s “The problem of unifying the definitions of the concept of ‘information’” is given, and the potential and specificity of the usage of such tools of knowledge as Concepts and Categories are considered in the process. It is argued that obtaining knowledge about the essence of information, going beyond sectorial knowledge and relying on the postnonclassical scientific paradigm if necessary, remains the primary way of creating a definition of information. Essential definitions of the phenomena and concepts “information” and “information resources” are provided; approaches to the creation of other definitions of the conceptual and terminological apparatus of information science based on operating with classification attributes and carrying out the procedures of division, generalization, and restriction of concepts are outlined.
