Abstract
The resistances of the pressure tubes in pressure tube reactors to fracture according to the delayed hydride cracking mechanism are compared. The allowable cracklike defect sizes in the pressure tubes of CANDU, IPHWR, and RBMK-1000 rectors are calculated. These results can be used to ground the service reserve of Zr–2.5% Nb alloy reactor tubes.
