Mass Spectrometry Study of the Thermodynamic Properties of Spinel Solid Solutions

The partial pressure values of vapor species over spinel solid solutions and the boundary of the solid spinel solutions in the MgAl₂O₄ (solid solution) + Al₂O₃ region are determined on the basis of the data obtained by Knudsen effusion mass spectrometric method in the temperature range 2000–2200 K. The obtained thermodynamic information is compared to the information available in the literature. The values of oxide activities, Gibbs energies, enthalpies and entropies of formation of solid solutions show a slightly negative deviations from ideality.
