Abstract

We have studied the physical properties of Hg1 − xyCdxGdySe crystals grown by the Bridgman method. The Hg1 − xyCdxGdySe crystals are shown to be n-type. Their Hall coefficient is temperature-independent, which points to electron gas degeneracy. The optical band gap of the crystals has been determined. The behavior of their magnetic susceptibility can be accounted for by the presence of clusters of various sizes.
