5,6-Bis(9-(2-decyltetradecyl)-6-fluoro-9H-carbazol-3-yl)naphtho[2,1-b:3,4-b']dithiophene as a Promising Donor Structure for D–A Conjugated Copolymers with a Narrow Bandgap
Abstract
A new carbazole-containing naphthodithiophene derivative—heteroaromatic compound 5,6- bis[9-(2-decyltetradecyl)-9H-carbazol-3-yl]naphtho[2,1-b:3,4-b']dithiophene (M1)—has been synthesized. The compound will be used by us as a weak donor structural block for fabricating narrow-bandgap D–A conjugated polymers. The composition and structure of M1 have been confirmed by elemental analysis data, IR spectroscopy, and 1H and 13C NMR. The synthesized compound has a low HOMO energy (–5.4 eV), which is favorable for a high open-circuit voltage. Monomer M1 can be used as a promising weak donor moiety in D–A conjugated polymers for solar photovoltaics.

New Photochromic Salt Spiropyran with Benzyl Substituent
Abstract
A new salt spiropyran of indoline series containing benzyl substituent in the 8'-position of the [2H]-chromene moiety of the molecule has been synthesized and studied. The structure of the obtained compound has been confirmed by methods 1H NMR and IR spectroscopy. The study of spectral characteristics and photochromic behavior of the target compound has shown that growing of its single crystal resulted in destruction on account of hydrolysis in acetonitrile. The 1H NMR spectra of the initial salt spiropyran and product of hydrolysis have been compared.

Poly(trialkoxysilyltricyclononenes): A New Type of Polymers for Membrane Gas Separation
Abstract
New metathesis and addition polymers containing Si–O–C groups were synthesized from 3-tri(n-propoxy) silyltricyclo[4.2.1.02.5]non-7-ene. It was shown for the first time that metathesis polymer was more permeable than the addition polymer. The prepared polymers showed high selectivity in the butane/methane separation controlled by solubility; therefore, they are promising for membrane separation of hydrocarbon mixtures.

New Photochromic Spiropyrans with ortho-Hydroxyaldimine Substituent
Abstract
A series of new spiropyrans of indoline series with ortho-hydroxyaldimine substituent has been synthesized, their structure and photochromic properties have been studied. The structure of the obtained compounds was confirmed by the data of 1H NMR and IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Photochromic properties of the prepared compounds have been studied. The introduction of ortho-hydroxy group into aldimine fragment of molecule (in the 6 position of the 2H-chromene fragment) has increased the lifetime of merocyanine isomer by 40 times as compared with amino-substituted spiropyran.

New One-Pot Synthesis of Polysubstituted Benzofurans and Benzo-1,4-dioxines
Abstract
It has been revealed that the copper(II) triflate catalyzed reaction of ethyl-2-diazo-3-oxobutanoate with phenols followed by cyclization of the intermediate enol in the presence of polyphosphoric acid is a simple and efficient method of synthesis of polysubstituted benzofurans. The use of pyrocatechol leads to the corresponding substituted 1,4-benzodioxine-2-carboxylates as major products.

Free-Radical Co-Oligomerization of N-Vinylpyrroles with N-Vinylpyrrolidone: A Route to New Bioactive Oligomers
Abstract
Co-oligomerization of N-vinylpyrroles (N-vinyl-2,3-dimethylpyrrole, N-vinyl-2-phenylpyrrole, N-vinyl-2,3-diphenylpyrrole, N-vinyl-2-(2-thienyl)pyrrole, and N-vinyl-2-[1-(4,5,6,7-tetrahydroindolyl) ethyl]-4,5,6,7-tetrahydroidole) with N-vinylpyrrolidone in the presence of a radical initiator (AIBN) gives co-oligomers with molecular masses of 1600–5200 in up to 87% yield. The products are readily soluble in organic solvents (benzene, 1,4_dioxane, and chloroform), and in the case of high N-vinylpyrrolidone content, also in ethanol and in water. The co-oligomers are non-toxic or have low toxicity (the lethal dose LD50 = 1300–2000) and possess biological activity.

Activation of Sintering of Zirconia Ceramics by Gamma Irradiation
Abstract
It was studied how gamma irradiation affects the formation of the phase composition and the properties of ZrO2-based ceramics containing various contents of Y2O3, which stabilizes the tetragonal ZrO2 phase. Gamma irradiation favored sintering and a decrease in the content of the monoclinic ZrO2 modification. At a sintering temperature of 1250°C, ZrO2–3 mol % Y2O3 ceramic with a strength of 225 MPa was obtained; this strength is half as high again as that of ceramic synthesized without irradiation.

Heuristic Topological Decomposition Algorithm for Optimal Energy-Resource-Efficient Routing of Complex Process Pipeline Systems
Abstract
A heuristic topological decomposition algorithm for optimal energy-resource-efficient routing of complex process pipeline systems was developed. The algorithm is distinguished by using an automated procedure for constructing a topological model of a hydraulic circuit as a hydraulic structural graph, a modified algorithm for finding the shortest spanning tree of the initial structural graph, and a set of heuristic rules. The developed algorithm enables one to determine the optimal energy-resource-efficient route with minimum reduced cost.
