Effect of intravenous infusions of calcium chloride and magnesium chloride on muscle tone in patients with Parkinsonism. Pr.-doc. I.I. Rusetsky (report in the Physiol. section of the Society of Physicians at Kaz. Univ. 28/III 1928)

Pr.-doc. I. I. Rusetsky applied such infusions in 10 patients with muscle hypertonia in parkinsonism after epidemic encephalitis, and then tested their muscle tone on m. quadriceps femoris according to Mangold's sclerometric method. For each infusion we used 5 q.c. of isotonic solutions of the above substances, i.e., 2.14% CaCl₂ and 1.98% MgCl₃. It turned out that a solution of Ca chloride increased muscle tone, a solution of Mg chloride decreased it, and the combined effect of both solutions also decreased tone, but more weakly.
