Abstract

Epidemiological studies carried out in the USSR and in various foreign countries show that the incidence of diabetes mellitus ranges from 1% to 3%. Despite the advances made in the field of diabetology, the issues of the etiology and pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus require further study.
