Abstract
D., 53 years old, 10 / XII 1959 was operated on for acute catarrhal appendicitis in Kuibyshev-region. On the fourth day after the operation, thrombophlebitis of the superficial veins of both legs appeared, which later spread to the deep veins. Treatment with anticoagulants, dressings with Vishnevsky ointment, medicinal leeches, elevated position of the limbs did not give an effect. Edema of the lower extremities and pain gradually increased. Previously, the patient did not suffer from thrombophlebitis.
