Abstract

Methyluracil (2,6-dioxy-4-methyl-pyrimidine) was synthesized in 1946 by P. S. Karlinskaya. It is a white crystalline powder, poorly soluble in water (up to 0.6% in cold water, up to 1-2% in hot water); when cooled, it precipitates. The solution does not decompose during sterilization.
