Abstract

A conventional surgical operating table is not suitable for ophthalmic operations using microsurgical techniques and an operating microscope. A table is needed that would provide the ability to operate in a comfortable sitting position with the surgeon's hands (forearm and hand) fixed. The operating table for ophthalmic surgery, designed by S. N. Fedorov and V. D. Zakharov (1972), satisfies these goals. However, such tables are not mass-produced.
