Abstract
Professor Aleksey Semenovich Slepykh (1924-1984) is one of the largest obstetricians of the 20th century. An outstanding scientist and teacher, a talented surgeon, he headed the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Leningrad Sanitary and Hygienic Institute, later the St. Petersburg State Medical Academy from 1968 to 1984.
