Abstract
the article is devoted to the study of the structural and semantic features of cognitive metaphor in political discourse using the example of modern political texts of English-speaking statesmen. The relevance of the study is determined by the lack of knowledge and fragmentary coverage of the structural and semantic features of cognitive metaphor in political discourse, which represent the basis for corpus research of metaphorical contexts. As a result of the empirical study, it was established that the structural and semantic features of cognitive metaphor contribute to a broader understanding of the conceptual picture of the world, in which the center of the world is a person, and the picture of the world itself is anthropocentric.
