Abstract

this article is focused on the concept of drama-based pedagogy in teaching English as a foreign language to students of secondary vocational education 52.02.04 "Acting". The author of the work emphasizes the importance and necessity of using drama methods not only as an effective form for developing skills in a linguistic environment (e.g., lexico-grammatical material), but also such competencies as critical and creative thinking, as well as a whole range of soft and professional skills. The author highlights the advantages of using drama as a teaching methodology that helps students speak English and think "outside the box". Based on the research results, the practical application of language in real-life situations is also proposed and recommended. Since the use of drama in groups has many advantages, an attempt has been made to explore various techniques and methodologies through which drama can be successfully implemented in the classroom to improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning a foreign language. This work will help to implement drama education into English lessons to improve hard skills through enlarging soft skills of future actors and actresses.
