War in the worldview of a Westerner of the 20th century (based on the novel “Slaughterhouse Five, or the Children’s Crusade” by K. Vonnegut)

Abstract

The perception of the phenomenon of war in the worldview of Western man of the 20th century has been studied. The reasons for writing the novel “Slaughterhouse Five, or the Children’s Crusade” by K. Vonnegut are considered. The influence of war on the psyche is singled out, the prerequisites for the perception of war are determined. The conclusion is made about the ambiguous assessment of the war in Western society of the 20th century on the basis of the heterogeneity of Western society at that time.
