Abstract
The work is devoted to the comparison of two battles of the Civil War based on the memoirs of A.I. Denikin. The value of memoirs and the objectivity of their author in value judgments, as well as the tendency to distort facts in favor of their own point of view, are considered. The practical significance of this research for historians and the general public interested in the history of Russia is revealed.
