Abstract

Accents and dialects of the French language, widespread in the countries of North Africa, are studied. The influence of historical, social and cultural factors on the formation of these lexical variations and accentuations is considered. Features of phonetics are highlighted, and a comparison with the Parisian pronunciation variant is made. The importance of dialects in social identity and how they influence the perception of native speakers is also touched upon.
