The journal «Vestnik of Samara State University» was founded in 1995 by the Samara State University (Сertificate of registration of the journal ПИ № 77-12398 from 19.04.2002, issued by the Russian Federation Ministry of Press, Broadcasting and Mass Communication, ISSN 1810-5378). It comes in two series: sciences and the humanities. Since 2011, a series of «Economics and Managemen» was spun off from humanitarian series. From 2015, the journal was divided into four independent journals:  «Vestnik of Samara State University», «Vestnik of Samara State University. Natural Science Series», «Jouridical Journal of Samara State University», «Vestnik of Samara State University. Series "Economics and Management"» (Certificate of registration number of the journal ПИ FS 77-63524 from 30.10.2015, issued by the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications, ISSN 2411-6041).

Since 2016 in connection with the merger and reorganization of universities journal renamed the «Vestnik of Samara University. Economics and Management».
