Abstract
The article explores expansion as a phenomenon of political, historical, cultural life of peoples, states, civilizations and humanity as a whole. This phenomenon is considered from a policivilizational position. The author, based on the analysis, confirms the conclusion of the classics of civilizational theory that expansion is an integral, immanent property of geocivilization, concludes that it manifests itself in modern conditions.
