Abstract
The work analyzes the processes of geopolitical transformation of the Caspian region in the post-Soviet decades. The author highlights the main facts and trends that make it possible to speak of the Caspian region as a new important military-transport and geopolitical territory. The Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, adopted on August 12, 2018, has become the document that contains the ideas of collective security and sovereignty of each of the coastal countries.
