Abstract

Hizbullah is an important actor both in the Lebanese politics and at the international arena of the Middle East. It evolved from a marginal military organization to a full-fledged political party. Since its inception Hizbullah employed the Ayatollah Khomeini’s concept of wilayat al-faqih and Islamic state as a cornerstone in its political ideology. From the early 1990s Hizbullah readjusted its policy by endeavoring to control the Lebanese politics through the gradual participation in political processes.
