Abstract

The article considers relevant for contemporary Russian literature subjects of aesthetic continuity and development of traditions of Russian prose of the Soviet period in the works of 2010s: the novels of A.N. Varlamov “The Spiritual Wolf” and A.V. Ivanov “Foul Weather” that scientifically analyzes for the first time. These texts are characterized by an appeal to the key motives and philosophical ideas expressed by A.P. Platonov - the problem of spiritual orphanage and attempts to overcome it, the need for social and moral transformation of a society experiencing a revolutionary upheaval. Сommon derivation: сontemporary writers taking after Platonov show how the temptation to accumulate wealth and change the world through violence is overcome by self-sacrifice and love for one’s neighbor; they explore national utopian consciousness and believe in the possibility of spiritual rebirth of an individual as well as the whole country. Platonov’s motifs productively influence the poetics of these works and expand their semantics.
