Abstract

The mechanical properties of polymer composites (PC), in particular, carbon fiber reinforced plastics with operating temperatures up to 150°C, are studied and compared. A number of compression tests of the composite samples reinforced by carbon fiber with a solvent-based and adhesive matrix are carried out according to ASTM D 695 using a thermal test chamber. The strength characteristics of PC samples reinforced by the carbon fiber and adhesive matrix T-107 are found to be higher than that of modern carbon composites with solvent- and melt-based matrices.
