Abstract
The main purpose of this article is to formulate the political and legal specifics of the institution of the presidency of the Russian Federation at the present stage in the context of the requirements for the stabilization of Russian federalism at all levels of government. The key stages of the formation and development of the Institute of the Presidency of the Russian Federation are identified. The main modern political features of the institution of the presidency of the Russian Federation in the context of the development of federal relations are revealed. The article presents the regulatory and legal foundations of the political functions of the President of the Russian Federation as head of state in the context of ensuring and regulating interdepartmental interaction between federal and regional government bodies. The features of interinstitutional interaction of the President of the Russian Federation within the executive and legislative branches (the level of the Government of the Russian Federation and the level of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, respectively) are shown. As a result, the author concludes that in modern Russian socio-political conditions, the institution of the presidency of the Russian Federation is understood through the prism of ensuring the effective implementation of the basic principles of Russian federalism.
