ETHICAL ISSUES OF SURGICAL CORRECTION OF MINOR DEFORMITIES OF LOWER EXTREMITIES

Abstract

The article discusses some bioethical issues of rehabilitation of patients with minor low extremity deformities while providing surgical correction of the shape of shins to patients at the second orthopedic department of the municipal teaching hospital No. 3 of Volgograd. In particular, we consider questions of social frustration of this category of patients, the definition of medical and social indications and contraindications to esthetic intervention on the lower extremities, and the criteria of achieving the desired results. The authors draw a conclusion about the need for developing comprehensive programs of medical and social rehabilitation of patients in cosmetic orthopedics.
