Abstract
International School of Public Health, Northern State Medical University Arkhangelsk, Russia *Department of International Public Health, Norwegian Institute of Public Health, Oslo, Norway In this paper we present general principles of correlation analysis and its use in biomedical research. Practical examples of correlation analysis are given. Calculations of Pearson’s and Spearmen’s correlation coefficients are presented using formulas and STATA software. Main assumptions for the use of correlation analysis are discussed as well as general principles of presentation of the results in biomedical publications. The article presents only general information about correlation analysis and does not substitute special statistical literature.
