The role and significance of ultrasound in the rehabilitative management of articular diseases

Abstract

The author presents the data on the history of development of ultrasonic treatment and the application of high-frequency ultrasound as a physiotherapeutic tool for the management of articular diseases. Special attention is given to the importance of intensity of ultrasound impact on the biological structures, the possibilities for the more extensive use of ultrasonic techniques depending on the goals of therapy, and regulation of its parameters with the help of modern ultrasonic equipment. Information about the application of ultrasound and ultraphonophoresis of various pharmaceutical products is provided with special reference to the treatment and rehabilitation of the patients presenting with articular pathology and diseases of the osteomuscular system.
